Uniting our community to confront the climate crisis, we develop ways to work collectively and achieve transformative goals for an ever-greener, healthier island home.

All for the sake of our kids, the Earth, and her creatures.

A brief history…

The Whole Vashon Project was launched in early 2019 with a vision of our small community standing up to the climate crisis, by sharing green goals and making our efforts and commitments visible everywhere on the island—a fiercely creative and hopeful reality.

In WWII, when every community was dedicated to the war effort, the commitment was visible on the Main Street of every town, with posters in every shop window, jingles on the radio, and focused stories in the movies. There were continuous volunteer efforts, supported by music, literature and the arts.

Our existence on this planet is more threatened today than at any time in our history, yet in most communities these days, who would know we face a climate crisis? Here on Vashon, there are wonderful efforts going on all over the island, but they are mostly invisible in daily life. We strive to make this work visible to all.
